How to Eliminate 98% of Spam

Hi Guys,

I have seen quite a few threads here regarding spam on forums
and how to get rid of it and i have seen some solutions of banning
an entire country just to block a few spammers well there is a
simple way of doing this.

I currently employ my method on my vBulletin 3.8.x Forum
and it should work on IPB and phpBB and other forum boards.

Method:

Whenever a new user registers on my forum they are put
automatically into the new members group in which if
they want to make any new thread and/or post they
need to enter a KeyCaptcha code which bots cannot fill out.

And after lets say 5 Posts they are then promoted to
the normal member Group where they can post normally
without KeyCaptcha.

Because Spammer's use bots/robots if they encounter
KeyCaptcha they cant do anything and no spam will be
posted on your forum but of course there is the very
small minority who will post it manually that's why i say
98% of spam but not all of it.

So this is a Easy method of getting rid of spam on
a forum instead of Blocking whole countries or w.e

This Method was implemented on my forum
and in the past 2 months i haven't seen any spam
when previously to that i used to get around 20 - 30
spam threads on a daily basis each with a good few
replies from the spam bots and now because of this
limitation on new users i dont get any spam on my
forum (as far as i know)

(Statistics from all my website's altogether using
vBulletin and this Method *average*)

KeyCaptcha is good but it doesn't have the backing
like ReCaptcha has by google and also the constant
updates the ReCaptcha (from what i know of keycaptcha)
