Free giveaways are essential for building a list fast. For one thing, people expect to get them. If you’re unwilling to give people something that will help them to decide if you can help them, then you can hardly expect them to pay for the privilege.

Here are four steps to creating a free product to give to your prospects

1. Determine what those in your niche desperately want

This is essential. No one will interact with you if they don’t have a reason. It’s as simple as that. There are too many other things that command their attention.

2. Name the giveaway according to the problem it solves

Let’s say that your prospects want to learn how to get subscribers by using Twitter. If you name your product, “How to get subscribers with Facebook ads”, then almost no one in your target market will sign-up to get it.

But if you name it, “How to get subscribers with Twitter”, then those who want to learn how to use that platform will be attracted to your product because it claims to solve the problem that they have.

3. Put it in a form that is the easiest to consume

Most people have more information to absorb than the time to do so. And that means that if you want people to use what you give them, then you have to present it in a way that will enable them to put into practice quickly and easily. In other words, it has to solve their problem right now.

4. Put it in a form that is the most efficient for you to create

It’s possible to create a product that is the easiest for people to use, but which takes you an inordinate amount of time to make.

For example, a 20-minute video with animation may engage your audience and make them want to stop everything they’re doing to watch it. And it may contain so much good information that they want to learn more about you. But if it takes you six months to produce it, the clearly it’s not easy for you to do.

You need to find a compromise between what is easiest for your prospects and what you can crank out quickly.

That may mean that some of your prospects won’t be interested. But you needn’t worry about that, because there will be plenty who are.
