Buy a site and use domain to redirect for traffic?

Is it a wise move to purchase a website and then use the domain to redirect to your main site in order to gain traffics, etc.?

Or would you prefer buying adspots to increase traffics?

Yes it can be good, that is if that domain is getting very many hits, but u wont earn anything since that domain might not be related to your site, therefore people will just go away after visiting,

So better to buy adspots.

Yeah I agree about people going away after visiting. But still even if they're related content and if traffics come from search engines, they'd definitely not get what they search for as it'll redirect to the index page of the other site.. So they'll basically leave.. However, I wanted to ask has anyone used this method and succeeded in getting good traffics later?

Yes it's good, as long as the site has direct traffic. Katz will ban the domain, google will drop the traffic fast too, so those are pretty pointless.
