Steve Jobs: iWeb and MobileMe site hosting are dead
By Michael Brown
Following Apple's iCloud announcement, MobileMe users were left in the dark about the fate of some of its features. While most of MobileMe's offerings, such as Find My iPhone, have made the jump, other features like website hosting went without a mention. An email from Steve Jobs, however, appears to confirm that both MobileMe website hosting and the iWeb site building software are now dead.
According to MacRumors, one concerned user decided to email the Apple boss to receive a straight answer. Although the legitimacy of the email is uncertain, the rumours website claims to have examined the mail headers and believes them to be real. The message reads:
Q: Dear Mr. Jobs,
Will I need to find an alternative website builder and someone to host my sites?
I have invested a lot of time and effort and the thought of re-training sucks more than mobileme ever did.
A: Yep.
