DMCA for images

My images were taken down by my image host and now I have to painfully reupload them all... I'm just curious are screencaps covered by copyrights law? I mean if I invert it or made some significant changes on it, the pics should be fine right? Do you guys recommend uploading it to an offshore image host or just host it myself ?

Pictures can also be protected by copyright.

I find it pretty logical image hosts remove images when they receive complaints. It's the easiest way and they stay out of trouble. Don't forget that it's not always about copyright infringement. It can also be a pedophiliac image...

I guess I'd upload it to the website directly but I would have to clear it up with my host though... :/

Better to find an image host that doesn't care. More than likely your webhost will shut your site down and/or delete the images.

So if you take down my pic due to copyright, you'll give away my ip?
