If you're in court, you can be blamed to upload all the files yourself if you don't keep a IP log, correct? - File-hosting sites must keep a log of all ips, if so, does that INCLUDE the download ips, not just the uploader ips?

Well if you use a autobot, such as Google, which uploads the files automaticlly onto your own server, not moderated due to the amount of files... would I be held responsable, or would it be okey?

I want to set a crawler copying a load of images and other filetypes, but I'm scared if this comes and hits me in the face later on. (some wouldn't have copyright on them... but like always, some would)

finally, if you fake the ips, by claiming they were uploaded through a proxy, would this keep both you and the user of the website safe?

oh, and if ip logs is required, then what else is required? does it just need to be in the database next to the filename of the file or what?

cheers,
