Wow. People suggest a lot and lot and lot and lot and keep suggesting. lol . Just remove that websites box and everyone would be at peace . Am sure, if rule is implemented regarding only sites you own, someone else would make another thread to remove this rule
The site is doing well imo. Admins have already brought so many positive changes, and it looks very nice at the moment.

Spam, racism, scamming, hacked databases privacy, etc. are issues to worry about. If the person owns the site or not in their profile is not a major cause for concern. Some are moderators or uploaders and some just like the site. It's not abused as nobody posts affiliate links etc. so it's not spamming

It's not even a link to a website. It's just text with some javascript that makes it clickable so it can't be followed by search engines or anything else so nothing to worry about.

See, the actual thing is quite simple

Says clearly, "websites you operate", not "websites you admire". So basically, if I put Google.com here, then IT IS ABUSE of this feature(or means I actually operate Google.com )
And about all the scam, scam, blah blah, yes, they are more important things, but not really related to this thread.

if we need to add only our own site address in the website field then how would we decide if the user is truthful or not?
is there any way to decide if he owns it or not?

Why is a proof needed here? You're not gonna buy a site from a guy just by seeing the link in his profile and not asking for any other proof, right?

Ages ago when KWWH was first perceived, we were suppose to have a validation of some kind that you were a webmaster, hoster, gfxer, coder, etc.. but now it's become so big that that's really hard to start even doing!

Trust is all we have when it comes to the site-box! Haha.

There were some cosmetic changes, like Rounded corners, which are still inconsistent.
Most boxes have rounded corners at the bottom.
When creating/editing threads, the boxes don't have rounded corners at the bottom.

Even if this is a good suggestion, considering this trend, I am assuming the next in line is vbExperience, or things like that.


On topic, I think it would be a huge task to verify if a guy owns a website.

Also, we can have another field for "Favourite websites" where you can add links to whatever site you like.
But putting links of sites you don't even "own" is meaningless, and in a way, its "abusing" the feature.

Whats the problem you got with the sites they add. Their profile their wish ... Admiring=Sharing . Whats wrong in adding the site they most admire like i mostly admire both google and KWWH .
