There is nothing not legit about any hosting provider.

Anybody can buy a VPS plan, a domain, host a billing script on it and start selling hosting.
What you need to do before buying hosting is:
-Checking the thread creation date. Is it new? Avoid it. Is it old? Still up? Good indicator.
-Checking the replies. Any complaints? Many good replies? Again a good indicator. As long as the members posting are somewhat not new.
-Googling the username or domain.

Now another tip is to avoid low-cost hosting. Usually the server are overcrowded and are being abused.

Well you're absolutely right.

They have some vouches but I'm still not sure, they are selling hosting per surveys credits.

BUT indeed you don't need to pay anything.
