OK, so I see MANY users saying that their file host accounts were hacked lately.

Here are a few simple tips to keep yourself from getting hacked.

Computer Security:

You need to have 2 basic applications, a good antivirus and a good anti malware program.

I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials 2011 (it's free) and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Do a full scan on your computer and keep them always active with the protection modules working. That should cover your pc.

Email security:

It all starts and ends with your email. If someone here got his email hacked, he probably posted here that his Filesonic account got hacked, and his forums' accounts got hacked, his PayPal account etc.

A few simple rules:

Use a complicated password.

If you have Gmail, activate security measures (SMS code verification for every login etc.)

If you use MSN Messenger or other IM apps, don't use your real email in the ID, use a different one, just for this purpose. You never know who is targeting you.

Use a security question UN-GUESSABLE by NO ONE.

Don't post your email NO WHERE! This is the most important thing!

Use a secondary email for security measures. NEVER use it and don't let ANYONE knows it exists. Use the same tips from above for that mail and write the password on a piece of paper!

File host account security:

Use a complicated password.

A tricky one - Either don't remember the login details, and type them manually each time, or remember them on Firefox so if you get keylogged the output won't spread out. Note that if you get infected by a trojan, it wont keylog your login, but it will steal all of your browser's credentials. But if you are keylogged, it won't steal your credentials, but steal your typing. Unless that trojan is also a keylogger, in that case you are fux0red.

Use a security question!!!

General Security:

Don't use the same password to every service\forum. It might save your ass in case you get hacked (not by email).

Hope I helped. Stay Safe!!!
