The do's and don't of DDL submitting?

I'm running this porn blog as a hobby, trying to figure out how to get traffic to it.
I found a ddl-submitter, added as many link backs as I could, and attempted to get on the needed whitelists. So that I could just use the auto-submitter for future posting to DDL-sites. It doesn't look pretty, since I have like 100 textlinks/buttons, but I figured that I would be getting loads of traffic this way.
I was wrong
Been getting about 40-50 hits a day by posting 5-10 posts a day. I realise it's a new blog, but I feel the content is somewhat decent. I reckon I didn't make it on to the good ddl sites for one reason or another.

Few questions:

Is 50ish hits low or average for posting 5ish posts to DDL sites, or could I gain a lot more?

Quality -> Quantity? I tried using as many as possible in order to get a feel on which sites are good (I am quite green here)

Is freehosted blogs less attractive to the DDL sites? I know that Katz don't allow it.

Is my blog just horrible? (www.pornrabbitshare.thumblogger.com)
This is the kind of posting I am looking to do, 5-10 posts a day, maybe more in the weekend.

you problem is your not linking to the big ddl sites, katz, phaze, nexus, xenu, downloadwarez.org, undernation, etc.

that's a really funny footer and sidebar. You've so many links.
Problem is most of them aren't that good and wont send you much traffic. You need to remove most of the crap ones. Some of the big DDL sites that send you decent amounts of traffic like katz have rules on how many links you have. If you go over this they won't accept it. They also don't like free domains or people on free hosts. See if you can get your own domain and some really cheap shared hosting or a friend that will host you as you don't need much space. Another thing big DDL sites don't like is blogs. They prefer forums. For example I don't think it's possible for a blog to get a 5 star rank.
Your site's ok but it's not great. It could do with stuff like a logo. It's wordpress? If so are lots of nice free themes which are around. Maybe you could post in the Site Reviews area here and get some feedback on making your theme and layout better.

Your posts confirms my suspicions, and I was just looking into cheap hosting and pretty much found one.
The current blog is kind of a trial and error thing, hence the free host. It's not wordpress, themes are made for thumblogger.

I was pretty much determined to make a wordpress blog untill you mentioned that the big DDL sites don't like blogs. Forums are pretty much out of question for me I'm afraid. Is this a big issue?

I had no clue which sites where big, hence the tons of links backs, just went for hit and miss, and clearly I missed

No it's not a problem. Their are lots of good and successful blog sites.
New plan sound's good. I'd also get your own domain though. You can get them very cheap. A good domain can bring a lot of traffic on it's own.

Hey, what i would do is get to know alexa.com That way you can eliminate some of the really low traffic sites off your list.

Or just get sparky alexa toolbar, its what i use to determine if the site has high traffic or not. I really high traffic site will be under 20,000, decent under 150,000 rank, moving up would be around 300,000. Any higher and they still need some work.

You should also do a little research on the ddl sites, i noticed you added my link to my ddl site which obviously makes me happy (http://www.ddlmafia.net) but we actually do not accept porn yet so any submissions you submit to us will just be rejected. I think your thinking of a subdomain. A subdomain is like yoursite.hostsite.com
You should get your own domain which would be yoursite.com (or .net/info/org etc.)
Some hosts do include a domain if you go for the bigger packages but not the one your looking at.

Nah, I thought that all hosts offered you to purchase a domain through them, these ones did. Got hosting and domain registration for $13.95, and now I'm ready to start
