Thanks Guys (& Gals)!
Hi, & thanks for both the information regarding the RapidSpeeds.com implosion, and also the helpful way members of this community joined together to help with the disaster recovery.
I was fortunate in that, I didn't have anything terribly critical on my server, which was an old KnowinServer box due up for renewal in a few months anyway, and also because I was able to dump a backup of it when LW turned them back on. Nothing mission-critical was lost, just time and convenience.
I've since placed an order with Boxslots, and have received the auto-confirmation about my order, although I am curious how long it takes to get a VPS provisioned with them - I've never dealt with them before.
I am not impatient about this, just curious, and Boxslots may have more pressing matters, given the circumstances, but I couldn't find anything on the site or FAQ that mentioned the provisioning or setup times. I ordered an NL-E750, if that matters.
On a different note, I've seen Xirvik jump in and offer to help here, but as a new member, with no history on this forum, I don't think that many took them seriously. I haven't personally used them, but have several friends who have, and were (and still are) quite happy with their level of customer service for less-than-savvy users. (I didn't go with them, because I didn't feel I needed the extra hand-holding, & could stumble around a Linux CLI ok.) They are legit, and have been for years, even if they are newbies here in this forum.
Judging from the latter threads, this may be a non-issue, as the deadline draws near, since most ex-RS users have either found solutions, or have given up hope (anyone who may have needed to boot or reboot their servers may have been just SOL, since the Rapidspeeds control panel was shutdown some time back). As a parting shot to RS, after I got all I wanted from mine, I left it with a "cd /, rm -Rf *", just because... I could
I don't know if Glenn @ KnowinServers has decided to try going back into the fray, although their site does look live at knowingservers.net, but I'd have been willing to try them again, if i could get some feedback that there was really a pulse there, not just an old shell of what used to be prior to RS buyout... I have some friends who are interested in whether or not they're coming back too, please either respond to my email, or this post to let us know?
Thanks & have a great week, if possible

Boxslots is on point!
They're quick, my order has been filled, & I'd logged in, reset the root password from the control panel and ssh'd into my box before I got the "New VPS order" confirmation email with my login details... I guess I might not have needed to reset the root pw?
Anyway, Boxslots is all they've claimed they were so far! Kudos & thanks!

Yes boxslots is a solid company, but so was rapidspeeds. Keep this in mind. Companies that sell 'unlimited' put themselves at more risk.

Never had all my eggs in RapidSpeeds's basket either
Thanks for the concern, but I was only inconvenienced by RS's demise, not out of business (or even down), & mostly mad because I've lost the last 2 months I paid for in advance.
No critical data was ever at risk there for me, & none is going to be for Boxslots either, because I & I alone am responsible for my company's critical data being safe, not some faceless hosting company...
