Google keyword in domain name

First yes it's good to have a keywork in your domain but a domain should also be easy to remember and spell. eBay doesn't exactly say buying or selling in keywords but it has become to be knows as one due to the brand. hotmail.com makes sense as it uses keywords but google.com doesn't but works as a brand as like eBay it's easy to remember and spell.

About copying names you have to be careful about the keyword your copying. For example cola-merchandise.com would be fine as cola is a general term referred to any dark fizzy drink but pepsi-merchandise.com would be a big no as pepsi is a copyrighted brand.

This is like the problems some sites had with Rapidshare in their name in the past. Rapishare-warez.com is a no but if you had rapiddownload.com or rapid-warez.com it would be ok.

OK their's two ways of looking at this the positive and negitive.
From a negative view your site will probably never get big enough to attract attention from digitalpoint so they won't take legal action against you to confiscate your domain. It's incredibly rare for a company or an existing domain to take legal action and gain ownership of a domain but it does happen.
Now on a positive view lets say your site starts to grow a bit. Do you really want to be seen as a copy of a larger site? Woudn't it not make more sense to have your own brand and identity?

Personally I'd look on the positive side as the amount of extra traffic you'll get copying an existing domain usually isn't huge and I'd like the idea of building something on my own instead of relying on other sites.

Just though of something important to consider. Have you though about what will happen if the site or domain your copying dies or changes it's name. This has happened some warez sites with hotfile in the name. eg hotfile-downloads has lost a lot of traffic and although their are lots of reasons one is because the main hotfile.com sites traffic has dropped a lot. This is something outside your control which will have a huge impact on your site. While unlikely to happen it is something else to consider.
