Project in .net

Hi all,

i just need some help from programmers/developers. I am a Computer Science engg: student,for next semester we have a mini-project(either .net/java/php)

So I got approval for a topic "Smart X web" which is a software supporting remote access to a computer.

i am noob at programming languages, never coded anything.
1.So From where i can start learning .net and complete this project.
is there an sites/tutorials which u know :?
2.what is differ b/w asp.net or vb.net. I think we r doing it in asp (may be a foolish question).
3.Which application(windows) should i download for writing source code ?

OR

Should i go for a course and study the project instead of above mentioned questions ?

1. you should really start with any .net tutorial or handbook
2.asp.net is basicly the internet form of windows coding its sorta like php but way different functions... VB is a desktop only app language.. its the very basic of any windows coding and the easiest to learn...
3. try visual basic with .net extensions

ASP.NET is used for web applications on a web server. However using VB.NET, you can code for Windows Platform

I would suggest to study the project before. You should try out basics before and directly shouldn't dont jump to the sourcy

BTW i would suggest you to start with c# then VB.NET. The end result is pretty much same and one could be converted to another but syntax of c# will help in learning other web languages
