why would someone open a filehost?

there are so many major filehosts like filesonic/fileserve/filepost/filejungle/megaupload/rapidshare
why would they make something like that..opening a filehost..will it bring a good revenue for the site owner,,how many possible ways could bring a good profit for the owner?
do the ads bring this much money?

im talking about a new filehost..people will not waste their money by buying some premium,,maybe this host will turn to scam or maybe disappears somehow,,how much money could the ads bring to the owner?..for example

so if u post a thread here saying that your host will provide $$ per 1000 downloads then most of the cashwhores here will upload to your host and alot of peoplecwill buy premium cause KWWH members are nearly on all warez forums
