The only reason I bothered getting MW3 was because it was going back to the MW2 roots. World at War and Black Ops blew bubbles. MW3 was never supposed to break far away from its predecessor. It was supposed to build upon its foundations. The only 2 CoD's I'd bother with: MW2, MW3.

I enjoyed Battlefield 3's single player, never got into the multiplayer though. Complete opposite for Call of Duty. I play that purely for online shits and giggles. I'm yet to play through the solo campaign on any of the CoD franchise beyond Call of Duty 2.
