How about a new filehost?

Hi friends,

I have been thinking long time about the filehosts as I have to do with them practically everyday. And what I noticed that most popular filehosts have always the same story why they become popular.

RapidShare was the most popular due to increasing popularity among downloaders (they haven't had other alternative as practically every link was on this host) and uploaders - because RapidShare implemented some benefits, you could redeem your earned points to free premium account. Later they introduced commission for sales and payouts for downloads but this system hasn't survived long.

Then HotFile (while RapidShare was still on the top) came up with paying a cash for downloads. We all remember that these were large amounts at this time. But unfortunately they were not prepared for such large number of users that RS has had, so they came up with the ranks and they not only overtook RS but were on the top for long time...

..until FileSonic (former SharingMatrix) improved its own site and system. Higher rates than HotFile attracted many people. Besides, they launched internal remote on a big scale (which HotFile didn't do and it wasn't so popular, RapidShare also allowed it, but you had to have scripts to do it), so they became popular. Now they are leader on the market due to popularity and stability.

Very fast a new filehost showed up - Oron. This time again something new - rebills and big commisions for sales you made. They paid you a half of every purchase you brought. And not only for this, but also for rebills, so the earnings really could have been high.

Now every new filehost that shows up on the market, just copy the ideas of the others:

- FileServe did the same what FileSonic did (high rates)
- the same thing was done by many other hosts like FileJungle, UploadStation and many more and there are many that are still doing this (look GrooveFile, BulletUpload etc)
- FilePost and Uploading (with the new version) offer the same thing that Oron does, so there is nothing new.. Of course it is worth to use them, but they are not so popular I guess..
- DepositFiles primarily had low rates, then they increased it to be able to compete with the others

Of course I didn't mention many other hosts that are on the market for a long time, like Uploaded, MegaShares.. also Uploading was long time ago before all abovementioned filehosts showed up.

I am thinking if there is a chance that one day will show up a completely new filehost (or one of the existing ones will come up with a surprise) that will offer new method of earning money or simply become so popular like RS, HF, FSC or ORON. What do you think?

I thought about it and I have some propositions that may draw attention of uploaders, but these are still copies of others' ideas:

- counting every download like RapidShare did, counting both free and premium downloads with no restrictions, but of course there would be a smaller rate for those downloads (like 1000 points = 1 Euro and 1 point = every 100 MB downloaded form your files)
- the highest rate for sales&rebills, like even 75% fo both as no-one offers that and people may earn definitely more than from existing such plans

These are just small ideas, everything should be implemented very carefully so filehost wouldn't lose the money and to lower the possibility of cheating by new people who now just looking how to earn more with less work

Sorry for so long post, I had to share with someone, I just want to get know your opinions. If they show under my posts, I'll be grateful.

yea pretty good idea but make sure the filehost should be stable. many hosts fail in the beginning because of instability

Download/Upload Speeds
Support and etc

try with these ideas as support then i can 100% sure you can make a great filehost

man counting premium downloads will benefit them so much instead of pps because only few are earning $$$$$ on fsc if they start counting premium downloads and stop pps then others will get motivated and upload more as they will earn more..

why ?

because these days ppl usually make 1 to 3 $ a day and after few months they give up..

filesonic could be even more popular if they implement this..

like netload.in 1$ for 800 downloads premium

using them for more than 3 yrs never had any problem i love them..

i earn like 5 to 10$ a day but atleast i know how much i will get and i can earn where as on filesonic it is luck based thing..

not everyone can generate sales..

but ultimately everyone promotes filesonic..

edit : fileserve is good for ppd but heck a goodhosting site with upload amount restriction ? ahh no.. i have 8 account andi asked them to merge them and i also mentioned that they can deduct the money from the balance but they won't agree..

so i left them...

Agree with it, the stability of the host is making by increasing trust of downloader and uploaders to this host. Regular payouts, kind support and fast help, that may work in future..

I don't think Oron should be there, maybe Fileserve should be fine.

What you mean? I saw people making 1,000$ per day with oron so this must be a popular filehost.

I used to use FileServe and all I say it's nothing special.

yes agree with people earning $1000 with Oron. but that doesn't make that Oron to be one of the popular list.

what I mean popular here is in term of downloaders' POV, not uploaders.

Hmm you right. I just meant the terms that have influence to become some hosts popular, some not. Oron is a leader in porn warez industry.

you got it right, Oron is for P0rn

they are the pioneer for PPS with rebills for a long time and there is no competition, so that is why they are popular among uploaders. now many new/old filehosts introduce PPS with rebills like Filepost and Uploading. this competition will affect their popularity soon.
