In a recent move by RIM to get more apps on their tablet device PlayBook, the company started handing them out free of cost to Android developers. The best part, there is no catch! The only thing that the Android developers have to do to get a free BlackBerry PlayBook, is repackage their apps or develop news ones for the BlackBerry App World.

To be honest, the company is not doing very well at the moment. With BlackBerry mobile sales down and the PlayBook lacking a good App Store, the company needs to do something to get back up. This new offer sounds pretty exciting, for the Android developers especially, as they don?t have to do a lot of work. RIM has announced the BlackBerry runtime for Android apps that will enable users to use Android apps on the PlayBook OS v2.0.
Further details about the promotion will be posted on our developer site as soon as possible, but the plan is to provide one free 16GB BlackBerry PlayBook to every registered BlackBerry App World vendor who converts their Android app for use on the BlackBerry PlayBook and submits it to BlackBerry App World between February 2, 2012 and February 13, 2012.
The offer ends February 13th, so get on your thinking caps and head over to the Android tools site to start repackaging your Android apps for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Even if you don?t know how to, there?s still some time to learn! Check the source link for more details on terms and conditions.
Any Android developers here? What are you staring at? Go start repackaging those apps now!
