Our payment gateway is CarrotPay and at current, only users of CarrotPay can pay for the downloads.

However, CarrotPay have announced they will be allowing a 'direct' pay option so people cna Pay with paypal. This is similar to how 2CO accepts paypal.

They have announced plans to do this for a number of other payment gateways so CarrotPay can then be used as an agregating service.

Cost of transaction processing are passed to the download however. So it is in the downloaders best interest to get an account and fund it as normal. Unless of course they just want to try it once. Then the few cents extra cost is negligable.

What problems are you having connecting to the US server? Have you enabled ACTIVE as our servers require ACTIVE mode FTP transfer.
    I've enabled ACTIVE mode,but still can't connect

    Thx for the reply.
To be honest it looks like a major downfall to oblige downloaders using carrotpay as a mean of payment.

A payout is only made to the uploader if the file has been downloaded using the premium service. Meaning if it is downloaded for free, there is no payout.

As with other file hosts, we impose a number of restrictions to encourage users to use the premium service such as:

    • Limited speed (currently 1.5Mbit)
    • Limit downloads per hour (4/hr)
    • No parallel downloads
    • No resuming fail downloads
    • No support for file accellerators

We could add more restructions but we feel they are not neccessary at this time.

Giving a price to every file ruins uploaders reputation and may lead to permanent ban.Site owners may try but...

Perhaps. But I don't see why not.

After all, with other file hosts, you MUST register with the file host to get payment. We do not require users to register with us, so there is no real difference.

CarrotPay will allow you to withdraw your funds to Paypal and bank accounts!

By using CarrotPay, uploaders have access to their funds immediatly. This is certainly not true of Paypal payments.

It is only an option. Files can still be set for $0.00.

That's right from the uploader point of view.
Not sure it will look as simple from the downloader side, coz u know very well that the "average surfer" is not eager to test an unknown mean of payment...

This is true! But as I said, CarrotPay have recently announced plans to allow for 'directp pay' so users do not need to sign up for CarrotPay.

OK, that's a good thing. I may test this new model once this PP option will be available on carrotpay.
Thx for this clear explanation mate, your idea really seems "refreshing" in this fast moving industry.

    Also,

It seems strange that users would be willing to sign up and pay for a service at a file host, committing themselves and their money to that service, but not to a payment system that may require only a few cents to try out.

CarrotPay does not store any personal information, and as users can 'top-up' and withdraw by/to paypal, it seems to me that they have little to risk.

Conversley, if a downloader wanted to sign up to a file host subscription, they would risk all the money the put in, and make a commitment to that service and lose all funds regardless of weather or not they use it.
