    Default Remotely Operate kimsufi server

hey guys. To be honest, I'm new to this server stuff.
Seeing all this hype about kimsufi servers in the market, I decided to buy one.
However, since I do not know how to operate servers running ubuntu 10.04 + x2go. I decided I deserved some help here and posted this thread.

I am familiar with remotely-operating windows servers using RDP but really have no knowledge about linux-operating. If there is someone who can help me here, kindly reply to this thread and make me smile

    Thanks.

Linux can either be controlled with vnc/graphic interface like RDP, but it would cut your performance by alot.

The alternative, but recommended use for a server with linux is SSH which is pure command line. Sort of like windows cmd, but has more advanced commands.

This is where you want to start is by using putty and connecting to your server via ssh and learning to install things and remove and editing via ssh.

It will be better to learn linux as its cheaper and much more powerful then windows in many ways.

    Default seedbox

Thanks for the reply man but I was actually thinking of using the server as a seedbox rather than a server I could use with an SSH Commandline.

I appreciated your interest but it would be great if you could instruct me how to connect to it the way we do with windows using RDP.

If you want to use it as a seedbox and utilize your resources, check the thread here - for an automated script which will install a torrent client and web UI for you.

Not very sure if kimsufi uses centos, but if they do you can take a look here
    http://www.besthostingforums.com/18-...entos-vps.html

If not let me know what type of OS it uses and i can possibly find you a tutorial for it.

all you need to do really is install any OS, install lamp, upload your script. You can then just access your script by typing in your IP in the address bar of a web browser. That would be the quickest and most resource-friendly.

    Wink cool

thanks for the tutorial above. Hopefully this is what I'm going to be doing.

While connecting via putty, I entered the IP address of the server, pressed open.
I entered root as the username and my ovh manager password which resulted in an "Access Denied" error.
I know im entering either the wrong username or password but can someone here help me with where I can find the password in the manager or where I can change it from?
Also what username should I use.

Sorry for this stupidity, but like I said, i'm new to this stuff.

    Thanks.

the root login is not your ovh manager password,
try looking in your email inbox, there should be an email contain root password for your kimsufi server

or if you can't find it just reinstall the server from within the ovh manager, you will be given new root password
