The world barely has enough resources to sustain the current growth rate of population. Last thing we need is a way to survive for eternity. One way or the other we will die.

Theirs a gene family called Bcl 2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bcl-2_family) which controls the way human body degrades , unless someone can find out how to stop that and since its the human body itself that is killing itself , it would be extremely hard to make humans immortal .....the lifespan of humans may increase ,but if humans were to be immortal, it is only going to add towards man kind trying to end itself , which is ironical ...

Well my family used to live to be 40-60 years, now we've surpassed that age. Currently at 85. I agree with you however. Even though a lot of us are living longer than our ancestors, there are an increasing amount of people with cancer, which we need to fix

abraham was 175 years old when he died (at least according to the bible).

i think body is just a vessel, it's the memory that really counts
we might have technology someday that will preserve these memories
