    Default Nameservers are not working.

    Hey guys,

    We just finished configuring out dedicated server which is running CentOS 5.6 32bit along with cpanel, and we cannot get our nameservers to configure. For some reason the IP's are unresponsive.

    If someone could give us a helping hand it would be much appreciated.

    Regards

    Luke

    For CentOS:
    create eth0:0, eth0:1, I assume your extra IPs are not pinging.

    go to:
    cd /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/
    type ifconfig and check your gateway, mac, etc there

    create "eth0:0" file by doing vi eth0:0 press i to edit the file

    and put:
    DEVICE=eth0:0
    IPADDR=yourextraiphere
    GATEWAY=mainipgateway
    NETMASK=255.255.255.0 (it can vary talk to your isp provider)
    ONBOOT=yes
    BOOTPROTO=none

    save this file with "Esc" :wq
    after that do: service network restart

    now reboot the server, the ip should appear on your WHM, and you can ping

    You do realise that nameservers take up to 24 hours to update?

    create a A entry to avoid that. Go to your domain registrar and do the following:

    ns1.yourdomain.com A myserveriphere
