Hi there.

Pinging the backlink URLs is not necessary, but will encourage the rate of it being indexed within Google, and counted as a backlink. Otherwise, it will be found organically over time -- and this may be a preferred route.

Due to server issues most of the recommended ping websites are offline currently; but there are many others available.

The best method of checking the links is to manually visit them and check for image, trackback or comments created on the date of your order - visible in your delivered report's file name.

This allows you to identify which web page was linked to, information regarding the website housing your link and many other important factors of a proper link campaign. Some pages may also paginate comments, (E.g page one, page two) which would render those tools ineffective.

If you are missing any links, please don't hesitate to let us know so we can replace them ASAP.
However, this is usually only due to websites going offline, or pages being removed.

I would have to suggest a Google search unfortunately.
We did offer our own tool on a seperate website, but due to those same server issues it is rendered ineffective.
Spontaneous changes from a well known hosting provider are quite lame.

Please review your alexa backlink count - a reasonably reliable backlink counter. I have over 80,000 backlinks built towards my search engine and both of those sources revealed 0 links.
note: alexa only counts one link for each unique website/domain

On another note - this form of link checking will not work instantly. You must check the actual pages for your link.



The type of checking you are doing is for search engine acknowledgement -- this is what I referred to with pinging the links. The search engines must find the link before counting it. Bring them to it with a ping.

If you ping them, they will be found sooner but less organically.
