    Hello, what are some secure, reliable, free VPS os software? I don't want to purchase a $100 DirectAdmin license.

    try Virtualmin ?

    You say OS software but then you mention DirectAdmin.......
    DA is a control panel, OS are like CentOS, Debian, Gentoo, Windows.........

    If you mean control panel, then try Webmin or LxAdmin

    You mean when you get a VPS, nothing is installed on it?

    ^The OS is installed... But stuff like control panels, apache, php, mysql etc have to be installed after you get the VPS in most cases and depending on the distro.

    it all depends on what you want.
    Apache, php, MySQL and those things are free.
    If you want cPanel or some other commercial control panel, then yes you still need to pay for it.
