    I've yet have to find a similar app as IDM and Zoom.

    If you're into torrents, install Deluge. No desktop needed.

    Either you can buy dedi. servers directly from ovh (if you reside in EU) or buy it from reseller (if not).

    i agree.

    Ubuntu even with NX which is supposed to be the fastest is still slow compare to Windows RDP. been there and tried but i still go back to native Windows Protocol.

    i use a dedi with nx and ubuntu and i rar upload download with no prob them at all and deluge torrent

    I was tired of RDP's also, they kept doing down for days and my team couldn't work on them. Until i bought a good dedicated server

    Here is the solution for you get a kimsufi server as they are cheap.
    If you have the budget for Windows server license then its fine. Highly recommend Windows server 2003(if ram less then 4GB) or 2008.

    Or else go with Ubuntu.
