Password protected files had never stoped leeching, they just unrar/rar them and reupload, so that's stupid, anyone that password protect their files to prevent leeching is just taking a plate sized placebo pill, and most people that password protect their files is because they know they are uploading something in a gray legal area or totally inllegal, such as clothed child/teen models.

And the people that use their website has password is just wasting their time, why would you want to promote your website when the user is already on your website? and if someone leeched your files guess what? they no longer have your website has password.

So stop taking huge placebo pills, your users will thank you.




Man that doesn't helps you at all, just ignore him and focus on giving support and news, drama isn't great marketing skill when you're staring a business, he doesn't like the ToS? well no one is forcing him to stay, nor you're forced to try to convince him to stay, he will just mean trouble for you, and arguing with him just give you bad image.

Trust me, I'm not trying to make him stay
Just trying to expose him for what he is.

I got this email today from Henchfile.com:

This email is to make you aware of the following addition/change to our terms of service:

* Password protected/encrypted .rar/.zip files are no longer allowed to be uploaded, shared and/or distributed through our service.

To clarify, .rar/.zip files are still allowed, but they are not allowed when they are password protected.
Anyone wishing to password protect a file may use our service's inbuilt password protection facility.

Why have we made this change?
We have made this change to ensure that we can properly monitor the files hosted with us; password protected files can make this process more difficult.

Anyone found to be hosting password protected .rar/.zip files after 9/9/12 0:00am will be banned from using our service.

Child porn is just an excuse.
All other file hosting services allow archives with password.

But it's your service and your decision. The uploaders will accept this ... or not.

We want to properly monitor the content of the file hosted on the servers and cannot do this effectively if people encrypt their files with passwords.
We're aware that this will put people off using our service, but that's something we accept and understand.

Let me put an example to you.

An uploader hosts child pornography on our servers and password protects their rar file with a password. The only way for us to establish whether it is in-fact child porn is to examine the file itself, we cannot do this if it is password protected.

Being unable to check the legitimacy of the file may mean we payout to this uploader, which is obviously not something we want to do.

I sense that you're not going to agree with the decision, but its not going to change our stance on the subject. Its with regret that you are moving elsewhere.

You can only know this, if someone abuses the archive.
And then you can delete the archive like you do with DMCA material, too.

If you want to look into the archives, why don't you allow the uploaders to store their passwords at their profile? Then you can check also archives with password. If the password doesn't fit after upload, you can delete the upload.

With your decision you say "WE ARE A WAREZ ONLY SERVICE", because no serious people will store their material at a service, which permanently looks into the customer files.

So when you say you want to peek inside of affiliates files to determine their legitimacy does this mean you're going to start determining the legitimacy of files that get DMCA reported whether they're a false report or not?

The reason I mentioned having uploader protection for your affiliates a few times before is because there are malicious people out there who would like to see your content removed just to give you a hassle and if there is no uploader protection in place to prevent removal of files that have been DMCA reported but are being falsely reported I think is unfair to the uploaders who are in fact using your service in legit fashion.

After several post on at least 2 pages I think it is obvious he is/will enforce his right to protect himself and his service from ToS violators. You have made your comments, it changed nothing, drop it, move on, accept it, but end it so I do not need to.
