Yes PageRank is a waste of time to worry about. That's why Google is deleting it! There has been confirmation by Google that PageRank will be removed in the next version of Google Toolbar. They explained in a press conference that PageRank is pointless, it doesn't change anything with your SERP. So people saying LE with PR2 or whatever, stop wasting your time. PR means nothing.

On October 14, 2009, Google employee Susan Moskwa confirmed that the company had removed PageRank from its Webmaster Tools section. Sometimes webmaster's need that "false hope" to push them on building their sites and adding better content than their competition.

I was under the impression that google was removing the visibility from there webmasters area!.. due to the fact that a hell of a lot of webmasters was basing there website on this point alone!
