for some of us its just habit and it refers back to the day when people hosted all the files on there own servers
so to stop the reffers of sites linking to the files they copy n past them into the browser this way they dont show they have come from a siteRespected and Trusted People: UltimA - Dman - Ak47 - Whoo - CyberDeViLZ - HaxoR - jayfella - jjj - HAWK = <3

Some people do it because they believe if, e.g., they link to Adobe.com in one of the posts, and someone clicks the link, Adobe will see the site in their referrers, and they'll get in trouble, though that's very unlikely. Most people do it nowadays because, it makes the post look more organized, and if It's rapidshare, It's really easy to open FlashGet, then select all the links in the code tags, and just put in the username and password for the RS premium account and all the links will start downloading.

Indeed live link is traces to who has it, when you search with program who link back you, the idea will appear here.
There a method to disable them in every forum software.

The only useful (real) use of coding links is that its easier to spot phishers/spammers.
