Default How to Add snow on your logos with Photoshop

In this tut I will show you how to add snow to your logos the easy way without doing any mixing shit with channels and such.

    What you will need:

    • Photoshop (obviously)

Lets get Started now shall we. I will be using Photoshop CS3 for this tutorial, I recommend using CS2 and above.

    1. Open up Photoshop and create a new document (File-->New-->Change the Height/Width to your desire)
    2. Navigate to the tools and find the Type tool, looks like this:
Now type something and once your done find the check mark and click on it, it looks like this:
What this does is stop you from typing using the text tool (Make sure you have your text full written before you click the check mark)

    3. Now its time to add snow to your text, to save time I will be using a document I was working on earlier. I will be using the text Warez Predator for an example:

Now navigate to the layers panel on the bottom right and create a new layer and make sure you create it on TOP of the Text Layer, example:

See how layer 17 is on top of the text Warez Predator, make sure yours is like that as well.

    4. This is the step where we will actually be doing the snow effect. Highlight the new layer that is above your text (mine being layer 17), once highlighted, navigate to the tools and click on Lasso Tool (If the lasso tool doesn't appear right click the tool that says polygonal lasso tool and the lasso tool will be available.

    Picture for reference:

Once selected and making sure you're on your new layer above your text, use the lasso tool to draw "snow clumps" on your text, (you can use the magnify tool to close in on your text, the magnifying glass) To make more selections at a time like in the picture below, while having the lasso tool selected on the top left you will see this, make sure you click on the second one with 2 squares:

    Example of selections:

Now click on the paint bucket tool: and make sure the foreground color in your color color dock is white:

and click inside the selection. If you did it correctly you should have something that looks like this: ( You WILL NOT have the red stroke lines, I added them since my background is white and you wouldn't be able to see them )

Now with the layer highlighted where you have your snow, On the top of Photoshop go to Layer-->Layer Style--->bevel and Emboss. A new windows will open that will look like this:

Now all you have to do is change one setting to have the snow effect, let the following pictures guide you:

Now once that is done you will have your snow effect:

That's all you have to do, if you have any questions feel free to ask and hope you enjoyed my tutorial
