PHPBB2: Rebuild Search Index?

Hi all,

I need to rebuild my search index on platinumw, because of the DB switch from myisam => innodb.
A lot of lost data ( from tables search_wordlist and search_wordmatch )..

I've been looking around and found this mod:

Info:

This hack adds a new feature to the Admin Panel. It rebuilds the two tables search_wordlist and search_wordmatch. These tables are used for the search function.

So yeah, a bot is sent on your forums to each category, search for words or w.e, and put them in the tables.

Before the DB switch, I had 5 million words in search_wordmatch.. now only few K.

The mod is working, but VERY VERY SLOW.
In few hours (4-5) only 13K topics were indexed. And then I had to close my PC so it stopped.

My question is now:
- is it possible to rebuild your search via sql and not via this mod?
- are there any other ways to rebuild your search (and fast methods)

Yes it takes a long time pi0tr3k to rebuild the search index. When I moved iGotPorn to a different server or VPS (cannot remember) , I didn't backup the search_wordlist and the search_wordmatch table because they were very big in size. After that I had to rebuild the searchindex too and it took many hours

^Ok, and how you did the rebuild? Also that mod for phpbb?
Did you do that using your home pc or via a server?

If you're desperate, restore the tables from a backup. "alter table phpbb_search_wordlist engine=InnoDB;" should change the engine with no data loss.

I thought that everything will be ok after converting, but many people were complaining about the search and that they can't find this what they were looking for.

I run a repair query to fix the problems but doesn't really helped.

I guess I will run that rebuild search mod, and wait +20H.

I did it on my server, because else I would have to upload the bigger database and the point of getting the size down had no result lol.

Whoo, you can run Firefox on your server or did it via command line?

It was a mod for phpBB2.I just had to point my browser to the script and wait till it was finished.
