    Default Remove vB version number

This is something that many vBulletin admins do to their vBulletin forums in an attempt to prevent hackers exploiting older vBulletin installations. Others just think it looks nicer! Either way this tutorial aims to explain how to remove the version information from the footer of your forum. As we will be editing a phrase, rather than a template, the change will effect all styles of your forum. You do not need a vBulletin unbranded license to make this change, so lets begin...

    Open the Phrase Manager

Depending on your experience with vBulletin this could be the first time you have edited any of vBulletin phrases so we'll go step by step. To open the phrase manager first login to your forum and then login to the admin control panel. Next select the Languages & Phrases menu item on the left and select the Search in Phrases item from the list that appears, pictured below.

In the Search for Text field, enter the terms powered by vbulletin and click Find
You should then see a list of phrases with this string in. To the left of the list is the names of the phrases in bold - look for the on named powered_by_vbulletin - it will most likely be top of the list. Click the Edit button to the right of the phrase.
    Removing the version number

In order to change the phrase you need to make a translation. To do so simply enter the following next into the second text (and empty) text box you see:

    Powered by vBulletin?<br />Copyright ?2000 - {2}, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.

This simply removes the version text and number from this phrase. Click the Save button and you're all done - easy as that!
