Good solid starting point I think you have achieved here for sure, since it is your first time using Photoshop, hell I wouldn't know where to start to do what you have done but anyway... good job on what you have done so far and I think it's a good place to start since it's your first time, learn the basics first and go from there.

As for using it, no I would not but it is not to my tastes really but overall pretty good.
