Default Windows RDP - Licensing / Multiple RDPs

    Hi Guys,

I recently purchased a server from OVH - A windows 2008 datacenter edition server.

The server is all great and it costs me over $250.

I intended to sell RDPs with this server but now I find out, only two users can be logged in at once. Some ppl leave their RDPs on so what do I do now? This server was intended for RDPs.
Is there a way to allow more connections? Someone suggested me vnc and one guy said use vmware. Both are sucky solutions.

Some guy sells RDPs too, he got a way to it.
Do I need to buy a license or..?

So what is way around this. I can't afford to lose $250.

Windows 2008 Datacenter Edition is intended for large scale virtualization and scale up workloads. So I suggest you to check out Hyper-V.

You need: Windows Server 2008 Datacenter Edition x64

I already got Windows Server 2008 Datacenter Edition x64 installed. I wanted to sell the RDPs such as it's like a shared resource. Example I was planning to sell 8 RDPs, 5 r online, so these 5 can use all the ram i got instead of just using virtualization with which they can only use that little ram.

On the other hand when someone makes the server crash, it'll go down and all users will suffer from it. If you create VPSes you can reboot individually.

to create extra RDPs you need to install microsoft terminal services. terminal services allows a licensed number of RDPs to connect.

I would have installed ESXi not Hyper-V personally - but both are good. (ESXi is free)

U guys, to run RDP's on windows you just need to install the WINDOWS SERVICE: TERMINAL SERVICES, this comes delivered WITH YOUR WINDOWS. Its included.
After that, you the also included License server, and your good to go.

Its all included in windows allready. After the installation of terminal services u can just reboot the server and it will work. Unlimited connections.
