look at the ajaz chat first. If u have it refreshing every second, thats a problem.

Every browser open will refresh 1second times (the amount of users * windows)

Look at your code BEFORE messing with server

Optimizing MySQL and Apache - Help Hello, I have been having some load issues with my server due to the response time in the MySQL server (I suspect that it is due to that). The load hits to 15/20 at peak hours (like just about 2 hours) and is below 1 most of the time. I have been tracking down the process on what is causing it and it seems it is the ajax chat on about 3 websites on the server. I would like to optimize the server in such a way that the ajax chat does not cause any issue to the server and slow down the other Rating: 5

There are heavy websites which need better performance but they aren't taking quite alot of resources. And so, I am trying to optimize the server for better outcome.

It is a dedicated server and it is still quite a bit under the RAM provisions. The CPU usage normally does not go beyond 10% usage.

I think 2GB RAM is quite enough at the moment. I have about 512MB still not used.

The ajax chat has been optimized in order to make it work better. It is no longer causing any problems. Although the websites on the whole have a bit slow response.

    - Recently, the load shot from 1 to 168 somehow and hanged the service. I suspected a DDOS attack or something from the websites, but when I saw the logs, it really didn't show me anything that is related to the website. So any ideas why that might be a case? Any way to prevent this ?
