    Well it cut down our list.

    It is suggesting these changes:
    Variables to adjust:
    query_cache_size = 40M
    join_buffer_size = 4.0M
    tmp_table_size = 64M
    max_heap_table_size = 64M
    table_cache = 6192

    Were you using MySQL 5.0 before? I am wondering about upgrading sql to 5.1 about stability, but does it cut down on resource/optimization ?
    Respected.

    Alright, I'll do that. Although I'll wait for others input for a day and then implement it so everything can be done together and I do not have to wait for 48 hours every time.

    I just have a doubt,
    I don't suppose the join_buffer_size would be 4.0M, it .0 at the end makes mysql fail to restart in a few variables. Are you sure this would work out?

    I already use 5.1 since past 2 months. It has given quite a significant impact from processor to processors.

    Have you optimized other areas?
    only run 1 stats program, shutdown unused services, turn off spamassassin, make sure hard server limit isnt being hit etc.

    you can also configure log processing so it doesnt run during peak hours.
    other services causing high load can cause a mysql backlog

    Can you list me through all the optimizing techniques please?

    I haven't set many things regarding the server limits, can you please guide me through it ?

    I have distributed cron quite evenly. I have 2 stats log because one gives overall logs and another is very detailed log which is quite useful during hack attempts.

    if your going through this much just to optimize your site so it doesn't lag it means 2 things : time to get a better server with better spec or the sites coding just blows.

    I was thinking the same myself.

    maybe its a VPS on a overloaded server, or just a poor CPU
