I'm not saying they make all of em but it makes sense if a money-hungry AV company creates viruses and then spreads them to others for money.

Only thing i can think of possibly it might be to do with the servers checking the key/status etc for it to update and find bogus keys?

is it a cracked version?

the crack may have re-directed all kaspersky IP`s to localhost in your hosts file?
