How to prevent same user from posting duplicates in given time frame?

Basically the title says it.

How can you prevent the same user from posting duplicate threads within a given time frame?

Say you do not want Member1 a to post "Test Example Thread" more than once in 10 days. Although you still want to allow Member2 and/or Member3 to post "Test Example Thread" the same or next day as Member1 posted it. Only limiting Member2 and Member3 to their own 10 Days limit on posting the same thread again.

Can this be done easily? If so, how please?

I would think this is a simple setting or mod to add, but Google (one of my best friends) seems to not be much help today.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It's very very difficult to do and nothing currently exists. I looked into coding it about 3-4 days ago. Don't worry you'll see it posted here on KWWH if it ever get's finished.

i think there is a mod to avid duplicate posting overall but i dont know if it has the options for 10 days etc,

I haven't seen any mod like that, but it should be easy to code - query thread titles made by use in past 10 days and don't accept any new thread that matches it

With a very active forum I can see it using a lot of resources as a mod.
IDK-If a member isn't posting hundreds a day and trying to re-post the same ones over and over, it shouldn't be too bad on resources, I guess. Not to mention members trying this would just get banned quickly...

It's not as easy as that. If you were to only query the titles already made by the users in the last 10 days then the member could easily bypass this mod by simply renaming the title. eg Avatar (2009) DVD aXXo could become Avatar (2009) DVDrip aXXo, Avatar (2009) aXXo DVD, Avatar 2009 DVD aXXo, Avatar 2009 DVDrip aXXo, Avartar 2009 aXXo DVD, Avatar 2009 aXXo DVDrip...... getting the idea. Your site's still full of spam. An even easier way would be for the poster to just have multiple accounts.

To do it properly you have to search the existing download links in the thread and prevent them being reposted which isn't easy and very heavy on resources.

Most of duplicate posts come from n00bs running multiposter, since some smartass shared a "tip" that this will increase number of downloads - they usualy even don't bother to change thread title...
