oh my bad. Try googling the HostGator reseller guide. Its something they give out (or used to) on how to make a hosting business off of a reseller account. You can probably download it somewhere.
edit: wait is it making a server you want to do with your home pc? check webhostingtalk.com for threads on that

its not really any option to use your home pc as a server unless you have a massive connection or at least 10mbps/10mbps(upload is the most important) otherwise you will suffer if your site gets any hits.
you can normally run game servers off your home pc because downtime is acceptable but not for a webserver normally

budgetvds.com hilohost.com wdispatch.com1. You'll have to first check in see if your ISP allows you to have incoming traffic or ports opened.
2. You'll need to have aleast a decent internet connection.
3. You'll have to think about how would you keep the home server up online in running if there is a power outage.
4. We'll you be hosting on the same computer has your main computer you use everyday if so (Bad Ideal)
5. If you were to have a hardware failure how long would it take you to replace that hardware that has failed.
6. Think about what kind of steps you would take to make site backups just incase of hardware failure.
7. If you're not going to be hosting off your own pc you normally use everyday. I would say search around for a server for an example something like this Click Here To See
8. I would say if you haven't messed around with a vps server I would recommend find a cheap vps hosting provider in play around with the vps server little bit learning the commands etc depending on what OS they offer.
9. Good Luck to the best of you.
