PHPBB mods are quiet difficult to install compared to vBulletin and IPB forums.

If you open the xml file that you get in the download it will have detailed instructions on what you have to do. If after you do all the required steps and can't see or can't work the modification the most likely cause is you made an error in one of the steps. From memory (haven't run a PHPBB site in two years) you have to two types of themes. silver and prosilver I think. Be extra sure that the mod you install is compatible with your theme. This is one of the main reasons people have problems with installing phpbb mods.

To help you more we need a lot more info. For starters what exactly are you trying to install and on what site. We need to know your site, your PHPBB version and your theme type along with the mod. Your question is very very vague.
