    IMHO, pirating movies, software, tv shows, music and games are a form of free advertising for these companies. Nothing will spread faster than the latest pirated movie. If people like it, they will buy it.

    Heroes, the tv show, got popular because of piracy (even the people working on the show agreed) and so did many other TV shows. They wouldn't be as popular as they are today without piracy. The same goes for many music artists, games, movies even software.


    Pirating scripts, templates and ebooks are a different story, because people are not likely to actually buy these after they have got them freely.
