Default how to set write access to a specify user in CentOS linux?

    hi,

i know that i can set permissions for a folder + subfolders with this command:

    chmod 777 -Rvf folder

but if i do that then all users have this access...

so my question is... how to set this permissions only for one user?

tnx Sandino. i will take a look.

ye... i'm new to linux... in windows i can setup a VPS easy... there it's no problem for me... but in linux... like i said, i'm new here. but i did set up all now. just have to find which folder or file in /bin/ i have to chmod to 777 so that the $_SESSION in php will work proper. but i will install CentOS now at my laptop too, just to play around and try different thing and lern linux better.

    thank you, tastro

    simple

chmod is used to set permissions to a file .
chown is used to assign permissions of file/dir to a user

to know more about the commands
    use man command
    man chown
    man chmod
