Buying a domain...need some help choosing a registrar
I am looking for a cheap (but not too sketchy
) domain registrar that has consistent prices (i.e. price won't jump from $2 for the first year to $10-15 for the second year). Even a .info domain is fine.
I was also wondering about registrars offering WHOIS privacy vs just entering fake info into your domain's WHOIS. Has anyone had any experience or trouble with just using fake WHOIS info?
Thanks!
Edit: I would appreciate if you could respond based on your own direct experience (or the direct experience of a trusted person that used the registrar)JE7 Reviewed by JE7 on . I use Godaddy, $7.60~ .coms, $0.89 infos (first year), always have good coupon codes. You can use fake whois info, just make sure its legit from a country 4000 miles away from you. Take time to get the city / state / country / postal code / phone number right and your fake whois info will never be a problem.

I checked it out, but the price jumps to $9.69 after the first year.
Yeah, GoDaddy seems to be the default registrar people use...I just worry about losing my domain. What do you mean a country 4000 miles from me? Does anyone ever call the phone # to verify information? I guess the email should be my own email?Respected & Trusted:

My domains have never got taken away, FBI, police, Godaddy do not care about warez sites. They are after STREAMING sites. Nobody calls the phone number, yes use your real email. : )

Godaddy and namecheap and are best and safest.
If you want really cheap then go with instant-deploy.com but mind you, they won't let you change your name servers
