Am not sure abt ny of my suggestion.
when u face Monitor problem try to open ur cpu and check the heat seeker{a meatl looks like steek below Gfx} of ut gfx card{grafic card}.
Abt Heet seeker - My experience is very but i guess gfx has two kind of seekers one a metal which seeks heet and another is that meal with a collers{fan}.
So if u check and fond itz too hot then u should try to change heet seeker with coolers.
For pc shutdown, try to change ur hard disk wiring "do't rember wire's name but there is a wire wich connects ut Hdd with Moth Bord".
I have also has encounterd same problem ehen i owned a pc with a atai graphic !!Always to help other if i can...

flash is probably right on this. His video probably shuts off because his video card is overheating first, by the video shutting off it will cool the cpu a bit to stay on. When his computer restarted it was probably because the cpu itself got hotter faster than the video card did so it just restarted.
You might also check to make sure you have the latest driver for your video card too. Sometimes if the driver is jacked it will do this and can also restart your system.
You should go to control panel administrative tools-event viewer and see if it's saying anything. probably not but sometimes it does if it's not the machine overheating.
First thing I would do personally is pop the side door off and run it like that and see if it does it. Give it a good air duster blow to the video card fan and heatsink and the cpu fan and heatsink to make sure there's no dusty skanks blocking air flow. After this play your game and see if it still does it.

Yes I think it's the dust as I've faced this problem with a lots of computers.
also you can try take the RAM chips and GFX card off and put them back to their slots.this can do the work sometimes.
yes also boosting your RAM maybe a solution as new games needs more RAM and you only have 1 gb.try to have another 1 gb (If it's DDR/DDRII RAM so it's not expensive)
