How Much Bandwidth Does Your Forum Use?... and more
I swear this will be one of my last questions
1. How much bandwidth do you use?
2. How much RAM does your package include/how much do you use?
3. How much are you paying?
Bonus question
How difficult is it to manage a VPS? Are there any "special" tasks that need to be done different than shared hosting? What are the advantage/disadvantages over a semi-dedicated server?
I appreciate all answers. Debating on going either VPS, or with WRZHOST Semi-Dedicated.Dem?nik Reviewed by Dem?nik on . i my self think Semi Dedicated is a Joke
its a fancy pants word for less crowded Shared Hosting
with a cpl more permissions
but Vps and Dedicated do take alote more work
Servers = cpanel
Vps = 15$ extra
Dedi = 35$ extra
so if you buy a server know what you want to add and what you can afford don't count on clients or people to pay it most times you will have to pay out of pocket

Depending on how established the site is and how many images are hosted on the server, a forum can use from 50-150GB/mth in bandwidth. Having 200GB is a safe bet as you can optimize images to use less bandwidth.
As for RAM, also depends on the size and traffic for the forum. 512MB-1GB is what you should be looking at. If the forum is completely unoptimized, then 1.5GB should be your choice.
As for pricing, a moderately priced VPS is around $40.
A VPS is much different to shared hosting as with a VPS, you are required to handle all the software installs, updates and troubleshooting/optimizing etc.
If you think a control panel will help you, get DirectAdmin.This is the staff, you have been banned
