The browser waits for about 2~5 minutes before timing out (depending on the browser type). It is a common problem executing long php processes which does not result in an output. It'll wait for a long time then just disconnect from the website (as said on opera forums).

Vegeta have fixed this browser timeout issue. Now the PHP script will run in background even if the browser times out and he even implemented a email feature that'll email the user if the browser dies.

I dont see a reason to do so, but its your choice. I think emailing user as soon as process is complete (along with the whole post template) is good enough as now u can close the tab and just wait for the email with the exact post content to arrive, copy from email and post to sites
