Installing a Webserver on a VPS and keeping it secure?

Hi,

I am in the process of building a forum/blog and want to know if I should use a AIO solution like LAMP to install all the required components or there are better and more secure alternatives out there in term of security and management? Otherwise, where should I start?

If you are new I suggest you to use AIO solution.

Do you have any suggestion? I used WAMP/LAMP in the past, but I have heard that those are for development only. Are there some that would be good for production servers?

For linux:
free: kloxo
paid: direct admin and cpanel

For windows:
paid: Plesk

under own experience cpanel is the best
both installation and configuring was easy
but the only probs is that u have to pay for it
