i use smf
personally i dont really mind what software a site uses and im sure the members dont ether as long as its got good contend thats all that matters
the reason i use smf is because is suppose to be a free vbulletin i ported a vbulletin skin and their are loads of mods that have been copied from vbulletin so it is really good if you dont want to buy a licenseSignature too big, removed by staff.

Or you can use phpbb, which is fast and safe
No license needed!
