    Default --skip-external-locking HELP!

    --skip-external-locking is eating up all my CPU, it is a mySQL process.

    my VPS has loads above 140

    waiting for some help!

    the mySQL process list says copying to tmp file

    and its getting over loaded with it

    I think you are on an oversold VPS, because "--skip-external-locking" is a normal process.

    If this is what it says it could be that the sql statement is formed so that it needs way too much time and space.
    Normally a group by and order by without the proper keys being set will cause this to happen.
    I took over a server that kept locking up mysql and it was on its own dedi with 12 gig ram.

    Try removing all the mods and see if it still happens. Then you can add them back one at a time until you find the bad one and rewrite the mysql or confront the author.
