does uploading cause high server load???

Does uploading really cause high server load on a VPS?

I use Rapidleech to upload to file hosts like Fileserve and Hotfile and I also use the remote upload feature of these file hosts by copying direct download links from my server. I usually upload 20 files at a time.

Both cause a ridiculously high server baggage on my VPS. 15-20 simultaneous upload using rapidleech causes 6-7 load. I did a remote upload of 200 files to Fileserve a couple of times and the load reached an insanely high 160 load!! Is this normal? Can't I really upload files this way? Or am I on a faulty VPS?

It won't be a faulty vps, what specs are your VPS?

RAM is 756 MB, 1 GB burstable. CPU is Xeon 5640L 6 -Cores. HDD is 150GB.

If its multible uploads large uploads then yes especially with RL

one file is around 100 MB x 20, uploaded all at the same time, the server load goes up to around 6-7, is it normal???

Upload with less threads. The drive IO is causing the load.

i guess cpu is shared too? if u want to upload such high number of files at once get more RAM
