Its not your fault, probably he gots a hosting account on the same server your hosted and then he uploads a php shell there. You can easily get the list of the sites hosted on the server + you can access to some of them.
Find a proper hosting provider, and if you buy try to check if its your site vuln or no. BTW You can learn from your own mistakes
