vps problem high cpu maxed

only today it maxing out cpu but when i use putty and type top it just showing http apache but it dont show that it using up that much cpu anyone know what could be causing it or anychance it be a ddos attack

Use "top" and hit "P", you'll sort things by CPU usage.
What's in the top of the list now?

If it would be a DDOS your host would surely contact you so that probably won't be it.

says apache httpd is using up about 1.5 cpu

it now back to normal mmmm after wait till it happens and ask my provider

ok who ever on my host reading this one of you is got a high cpu script since i returned everyone site back on its got 100% so i will be suspending 2 sites for 10mins to see if cpu goes down if so then i will have a idea who it is
